Why I Spent My Son’s Wedding Day With His Ex-Wife

Sometimes real life throws twists and turns that no screenwriter could dream up — and one mother learned this the hard way, when her 25-year-old son’s shocking choices forced her to make the hardest decision of all: choosing between family and her own principles.

Here’s her story:

My 25-year-old son married a sweet 23-year-old woman named Tina. At first, everything seemed perfect — they even welcomed a beautiful baby. But little by little, Tina started dropping hints about his unfaithfulness, brushing it off like it was normal.

One day, the truth came out: my son had cheated on her multiple times. She even had proof. I was absolutely heartbroken and embarrassed — that’s not the kind of man I raised.

But Tina, with a heart much bigger than most, forgave him over and over, even after I gently told her she deserved better.

Then, in a shocking twist, my son filed for divorce — because he’d found someone new. He left Tina to raise their 1-year-old child alone, struggling to make ends meet in a tiny rented room.

When he called to invite us to his new wedding, I asked him why he had treated Tina that way. His answer shattered me:
“Well, Tina is great, but I deserve someone better.”

I hung up in disbelief. On the day of his wedding, my husband and I made our choice.

We went to Tina’s place instead.

The small room was cramped, the baby was crying, and Tina looked completely worn out. I rolled up my sleeves, helped her with housework, rocked the baby, and brought her cookies and cake — small comforts for a young woman who had been dealt more pain than she deserved.

When my son called, I told him the truth:
“I’m at your ex-wife’s house. You were a terrible husband, and I’m ashamed of you.”

Now he refuses to speak to me. Sometimes I wonder if I was too harsh. But deep down, I know I made the right choice.
