Secrets We Keep: When Spouses Decide to Never Tell

Sometimes, we think we know our partners better than anyone, but there are moments when they surprise us. One woman recently shared how she kept a small secret from her husband during a night out.

While enjoying dinner at a restaurant, her phone’s battery was running low, so she turned it off to save power. On the way home, panic set in when she realized her phone was missing. She searched frantically through her purse and car but couldn’t find it anywhere. Her worry escalated, and she convinced her husband to turn the car around and drive an hour back to the restaurant to retrieve it.

Once there, the restaurant manager kindly assisted in their search. Despite her husband’s growing frustration, they scoured every possible spot, determined to find the missing phone. But in the middle of the chaos, she felt something in her jacket pocket. To her shock, her phone had been there all along.

Embarrassed by her mistake and feeling guilty for making her husband drive all the way back, she decided not to confess. Instead, she excused herself to the restroom, and upon returning, she casually mentioned, “Oh, I found it—turns out it was sitting on the toilet tank.”

To this day, her husband has no idea that the phone never left her side. And to avoid further embarrassment, she’s decided to keep this little secret all to herself.
