Dolly Parton Honors Late Husband Carl Dean with Love and Music
|Dolly Parton is keeping the memory of her beloved husband, Carl Dean, alive following his passing on March 3 at the age of 82.
While the country music icon initially took time away from the spotlight, she recently made a surprise public appearance at her Dollywood theme park, marking the 40th anniversary of the resort.
Just 11 days after losing her husband, Dolly took the stage at Dollywood’s Celebrity Theater, sharing heartfelt words about Carl, her husband of over 60 years.
“Of course, I will always love him and miss him, but I wanted you to know that I will always love you,” she told the audience, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans.
Her touching words echoed the statement she first shared on Instagram:
“This is a love note to family, friends, and fans. Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers honoring my beloved husband, Carl.”
Referencing her timeless hit I Will Always Love You, she added:
“He is in God’s arms now, and I am okay with that. I will always love you.”
As a tribute to Carl, Dolly released a new song, “If You Hadn’t Been There,” on March 7, honoring their life together.
Dolly and Carl married on May 30, 1966, and despite her legendary career, he preferred to stay out of the public eye. Through the years, their love endured, even through challenges—including what Dolly once called an “affair of the heart” that she overcame through faith.
On their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016, the couple renewed their vows, with Dolly saying:
“If I had to do it all over again, I’d do it all over again… and we did! I’m dragging him kicking and screaming into the next 50 years.”
Though Carl Dean is gone, it’s clear his love and influence will forever live on in Dolly’s heart—and her music. 💕
