Samsung Warns Customers Not To Discuss Personal Information In Front Of Smart TVs

According to the latest investigation into Samsung Smart TV’s has discovered that the user voice commands are recorded, stored and transmitted to a third party. So, this is why Samsung warns all customers not to discuss personal or sensitive information within earshot of the TV device. Well, this new controversy over Samsung TV’s is probably caused by the discovery of a single haunting statement in the company’s privacy policy, which states:

“Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party.” 

This company has confirmed that its Smart TV’s are listening to customers’ every works. So, Samsung is warning all customers not to speak about personal information while near the TV sets. Samsung has also revealed that the voice activation feature on its smart TVs will capture all nearby conversations. Their TV’s can collect and share the information, including sensitive data as well – with Samsung and third-party services. Well, this news came out when Shane Harris at the Daily Beast discovered the troubling line in Samsung’s privacy policy:

“Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party.” 

This company has now provided a new statement, saying how the voice activation feature works: “If a consumer consents and uses the voice recognition feature, voice data is provided to a third party during a requested voice command search”.

Samsung officials also mentioned that the voice data is sent to a server, which searches for the requested content then returns the desired content to your Smart TV. So, this means that the company doesn’t retain or sell the voice data, but it didn’t name the third party that translates user’s speech.
