Not many people know what the Win button on the keyboard serves for. It is actually a “hot key” which can be used in combination with other keys to simplify some basic Windows commands. See the list of Win combinations below and start using your computer in a whole new way!
Win – opens and closes the Start menu.
Win + Tab – cycle through active windows
Win + A – opens the action center on Windows 10
Win + Ctrl + D – creates a new virtual desktop and switches to it
Win + C – opens the Charms menu
Win + D – minimizes all open windows and shows the desktop
Win + E – opens Windows Explorer
Win + F – opens up search
Win + F1 – opens Help and troubleshooting
Win + Ctrl + F4 – closes the current virtual desktop
Win + G – opens Game DVR recorder
Win + H – opens the Share menu for the current app
Win + K – opens the connection menu
Win + L – locks the desktop
Win + M – opens the desktop and minimizes all open windows
Win + Shift + M – reopens all windows
Win + P – opens the Project menu
Win + Q – opens the Search menu
Win + R – opens the Run command
Win + S – opens the Search menu
Win + T – moves through the taskbar icons
Win + U – opens up the Ease of Access Center in Windows 10
Win + W – opens the universal Search bar
Win + X – opens up the advanced options such as Control Panel
Win + Y – opens Yahoo! Messenger
Win + any number – opens one of the taskbar apps.
