Dolly Parton’s family and business circle have become embroiled in a bitter legal dispute following the country music legend’s death, with newly surfaced court documents revealing the increasingly heated communications involving her nephew and former head of security, Bryan Seaver.
According to court documents reported by Page Six, Seaver allegedly sent a series of profanity-filled emails in August, just days before Parton died on August 25 at the age of 80.

The emails reportedly centered on disagreements over security arrangements and ongoing work at properties connected to Parton in Nashville. One particularly aggressive message was sent on August 21, just four days before the singer’s death.
The correspondence reportedly included severe insults, threats of legal action and accusations that certain vendors were failing to perform their duties properly. The court exhibits were heavily redacted, making it unclear exactly who some of the messages were directed toward or whether Parton herself was directly involved in the exchange.

Dispute Over Security
The conflict appears to have involved security services at Parton-related properties, including the SongTeller Hotel and Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in downtown Nashville.
Seaver reportedly objected to the use of an outside security company and claimed that problems had occurred under its watch. In another email, he allegedly argued that the hotel should instead use security services connected to his own company.

The situation became increasingly tense as Seaver’s relationship with members of Parton’s management team deteriorated.
Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, was among those involved in the broader dispute. Nozell eventually dismissed Seaver from his security role and sought legal protection following allegations that Seaver had made threatening communications.
Legal Battle Intensifies
The dispute did not end with Seaver’s dismissal. Court filings allege that his communications with members of Parton’s business operation became increasingly concerning.
She’s Alive, LLC, the company involved in managing Parton’s professional and business interests, sought a restraining order against Seaver and his security company. A judge subsequently granted a temporary order restricting Seaver’s contact with members of the organization and their associates.

Seaver has denied threatening anyone and has argued that his messages have been taken out of context. He has characterized some of the communications as private conversations between people who were under considerable emotional pressure.
He has also maintained that he was trying to protect Parton and her interests rather than attempting to cause harm.
A Complicated Chapter After Dolly’s Death
The controversy is particularly striking because Seaver was reportedly one of the family members entrusted with announcing Parton’s death publicly.
Parton died on August 25 following a private battle with cancer. Her death marked the end of an extraordinary career spanning decades, leaving behind a vast musical legacy as well as a complicated business and estate structure.

Now, the legal dispute involving her nephew has added another unexpected chapter to the story surrounding her final months.
The allegations contained in the legal filings remain disputed, and they should not be interpreted as findings of wrongdoing unless established by the court.
For fans, the developments have cast attention away from Parton’s remarkable career and toward the increasingly complicated disagreements surrounding her family, business interests and estate following her death.
