Study Finds Fasting For Three Days Can Regenerate Entire Immune System

Fasting is really popular in the last few years, especially for people who live healthy and try to eat healthy food. And, the medical experts also claim that fasting is good for people, because it can provide many health benefits for them, such as: improved cardiovascular health, reduced cancer risk, gene repair, improved immune system, longevity, etc. But still, most nutritionists and health practitioners are afraid to recommend fasting to people, because of the stigma involved. It still doesn’t alleviate the incredible benefits of fasting when it’s used sensibly.

A recent study, conducted by group of scientists at the University of Southern California – USC, have found that fasting for a short period of time (just 3 days) can improve and regenerate the entire immune system, even in the elderly people. The scientists who did this study said that this is absolutely amazing. A different, more recent study, suggests that the fasting process kick-starts the stem cells to produce new white blood cells, which are fighting and preventing all infections and diseases in the human body.

The medical experts at the University of Southern California – USC have also found that fasting could be really effective and extremely beneficial for people who suffer from damaged immune systems, such as cancer patients who are undergoing on chemotherapy treatment. They also claim that this fasting method can help the elderly people, who have weakened immune system. Their immune system is less effective, because they get older by the day – so it can’t fight off even the common diseases, like cold and flu.

The medical experts at the USC also mentioned that this fasting method “flips a regenerative switch”, which prompts stem cells to create new white blood cells, which are extremely important for regenerating the immune system in the human body. Valter Longo is one of the leading researchers and a professor at the University of Southern California – Davis School of Gerontology, has said that when you starve, your organism will try to save some energy, and one of the things it can do to save energy is to recycle a lot of the immune cells, which are not needed – especially the white cells that are damaged. He also mentioned that when the human organism and immune system is heavily damaged by the conventional chemotherapy treatment or by aging, the fasting cycles can be of a great help and regenerate the entire immune system in the human body.
