One Glass Of Red Wine Equals One Hour Exercise

Let’s be honest – going to the gym isn’t everyone’s favorite thing to do, but drinking wine can be a joy for all of us. Now, there’s good news to the red wine drinkers. According to a study, a glass of red wine could have the same benefits of going to the gym for an hour.

Research conducted by the University of Alberta in Canada has found that health benefits in resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, are similar to those we get from exercise. Red wine is equal to a heavy session in the gym? That’s something we can definitely get used to. According to the lead researcher, Jason Dyck, these findings will particularly help those who are unable to exercise. Rasveratrol was seen to improve physical performance, heart function and muscle strength in the same way as they are improved after a gym session.

Discussion over the health benefits of red wine has been well documented. Studies have revealed that those who drink a glass of red wine a day are less likely to develop dementia or cancer, that it’s good for your heart, anti-ageing and can regulate blood sugar. And now there’s research backing that fact that it boosts heart rate? This is literally the best thing ever. Though, let’s be straight here – this is all in moderation, it only applies to red wine and the university’s study was carried out on rats, not humans.

There are 2 things you should have in mind:

  1. Only red wines count. If you are a fan of white wine, drinking this is not acceptable if you want to get the benefits of exercising for an hour at the gym.
  2. The study only recommends one glass of wine. Some people may think they should drink the entire bottle so they can have benefits of four or several gym sessions. The study wants you to drink 1 glass of red wine every day.

Still, if you want to up your intake of resveratrol? Try blueberries, peanut butter, red grapes and dark chocolate. Remember, a balanced diet is everything.
