Professor Lena Ma who conducted the research on 16 different brands of water says that “if you keep your water for a long time exposed on high temperatures that may be a serious problem”.

The research lasted four weeks and the bottled water was analyzed on various temperatures up to 70 Celsius degrees (water from the fridge, room temperature and car left in the sun).

Bottles which are used for water are made from polyethylene terephthalate, a material which is used for packing various food and drinks because it is easy and resistant. However, when it is heated especially on a temperature from 70 Celsius degrees for four weeks, it emits bisphenol A (BPA) a chemical which according to scientists may influence on the hormone level in our bodies.

On the other hand, the level of a different substance was also observed, antimony (hard metal usually related to heart and lungs diseases). The research showed that if the temperature of the water rises then the level of antimony also rises.

So no matter how tired or thirsty you are, if you find a bottle of water when you reach you car simply throw it!
